The Death of Childhood
Childhood, we all remember that time. Wasn’t that a nice, carefree, and easy time? And then somehow, almost without noticing: we grew up, became adults. Do you remember how that happened? Do you remember how that felt?
Do you remember the nights when you couldn’t sleep because of the ‘growing pains’ in your feet, hands, and everywhere, how your body no longer felt how it used to feel?
Do you remember how hard it was to believe that your favourite dress didn’t fit you anymore, how it hurt to wear that tight sweater but you just couldn’t admit that you’d grown out of it?
Do you remember the fights with your parents, when you said things that you didn’t mean? And the shame of those words that is still with you now.
Do you remember how hard it was to take that one big step into the adulthood? How it hurt, but at the same time how that step was so necessary.
I Remember.
